We are a discipleship community for young adults seeking to be immersed in
Welcome to Immersion Discipleship House, where young adults (18-30) can live and grow in their Christian faith. Our unique living arrangement, in partnership with the local church, fosters growth, community, and daily life skills to empower individuals to fulfill their God-given destiny.
They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Acts 2:42-44
God's Presence, His Word, and His Works.
THE NEED
A recent Gallup survey showed one in four young people are significantly lonely. At secular universities/colleges many young people find community in their dwelling places… their dorms, fraternities, or sororities. Some of them form relationships that last a lifetime. However, the environment isn’t often conducive to living a Christian life. In Oakland County, there is currently a lack of programs that cater to young adults who are either working or attending school and wish to live in a Christian community setting. Discipleship Home allows young people to be actively discipled while still working or going to school. Finally, housing for young people has become cost-prohibitive. Rentals can run $1200 to $1500 a month. The Home would provide housing, some meals, and Christian training for at least half the cost of getting their own apartment or living on campus.
THE VISION
Our vision is to provide young adults (18-30) a supportive environment to live and grow in their Christian faith. In conjunction with the local church, this unique living arrangement will foster growth, community, daily life skills, and empowerment to fulfill their God-given destiny.
OUR GOALS
GROWTH
I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.
Philippians 3:10-11
COMMUNITY
How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity! It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron’s beard, down on the collar of his robe.
Psalm 133:-1-2
DISCIPLESHIP
Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it.”
Luke 9:23-24
The Discipleship Home will provide an environment where young people are sharpened in the scriptures, grow closer to God and to each other, and dwell in His presence. The outcome is that they become effective ministers of the Gospel in their families, among their peers, and in the marketplace.
This generation is hungry for true, authentic community. Social media has robbed their attention and developed surface-level relationships.
Many young people desire something deeper.
God is raising up an army of young people in this hour. It is essential young people are rooted in their identity in Christ, know the Word, are empowered in the spiritual gifts and have an impact in their family, relationships, and community. Training in daily life skills would reflect these values as well.
WHY IMMERSION?
IMPLEMENTATION
We want to provide a place where young people can affordably live away from home in an environment where their faith will be sharpened. They will be discipled, experience Christian community, and still work on the education or career they are called to.
